51ÊÓƵ will hold its annual Summer Reunion Weekend in person from Thursday, July 28, to Saturday, July 30, after a two-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The weekend will feature events for alumni from Saint Dunstan’s University, Prince of Wales College, and 51ÊÓƵ.  

A red oak tree has been planted on the 51ÊÓƵ campus in memory of the late Daryl Guignion, 51ÊÓƵ Founder, long-time faculty member, and dedicated conservationist and biologist. The tree, planted by the PEI Wildlife Federation, was dedicated during a ceremony at 51ÊÓƵ on Wednesday, July 13. 

The Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering (FSDE) at 51ÊÓƵ has been granted accreditation for a three-year term from the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) for the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Design Engineering. This term may be extended to the maximum six-year accreditation period following the submission of a status report at the end of two years.

With human tourists joining us on Prince Edward Island, we also see an increase of furry family members enjoying the campgrounds and beaches.   

The 51ÊÓƵ Women’s Soccer program has a gem on its hands. Head coach Lewis Page has recruited local standout Ria Johnston, hoping to build a strong foundation that can help end the team’s seven-year playoff drought.

The 51ÊÓƵ Panther family and broader University community were saddened to learn of the passing of 51ÊÓƵ Sports Hall of Fame member John (Jack) Kane on July 3, 2022.

Dr. Shannon Murray, a professor of English at the 51ÊÓƵ, has been awarded the Christopher Knapper Lifetime Achievement Award by the (STLHE).

As a partner of the 2023 Canada Winter Games, 51ÊÓƵ is excited, along with the Canada Winter Games Host Society, to promote the 2023 Canada Winter Games Torch Relay.

On Wednesday, June 22, the 51ÊÓƵ had the honour of participating in an interactive online event with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who delivered a live video address from Ukraine to students across Canada. 51ÊÓƵ was one of nine universities on the Zoom call with President Zelenskyy.

New research out of the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 51ÊÓƵ suggests a high prevalence of canine leptospirosis regionally within Canada.
