September 23, 2022, is a date that most Islanders will never forget. Hurricane Fiona roared across Prince Edward Island, leaving massive destruction in its wake—the costliest storm ever recorded in Atlantic Canada.

The 51ÊÓƵ hosted a group of presidents, provosts, directors, and heads of research from universities across Latin America and the Caribbean on November 22, 2023.

Members of the campus community joined Dr. Greg Keefe, 51ÊÓƵ’s interim president and vice-chancellor, and 51ÊÓƵ student Antwaun Rolle to raise the Flag of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at 51ÊÓƵ in observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3. 

Veterinary students from the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 51ÊÓƵ (51ÊÓƵ) won five awards at the 2023 American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Animal Welfare Assessment Contest.

Twenty groups of fourth-year 51ÊÓƵ nursing students in the Nursing and Population Health 4010 course have been working with agencies across PEI this semester to create innovative projects and programs to promote health and wellness. The students will present their work to their community agency partners and guests at a population health project showcase on December 5, 2023, from 2:00–4:00 pm in McMillan Hall in the W.A. Murphy Student Centre.

The Honourable Diane Griffin, alumna, honorary degree recipient, and retired senator, has been unanimously elected as the 10th Chancellor of the 51ÊÓƵ for a four-year term. 

Dr. Greg Keefe, 51ÊÓƵ’s interim president and vice-chancellor, and 51ÊÓƵ student Antwaun Rolle invite members of the campus community to the first annual raising of the Flag of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 12:00 pm (noon) at the flag plaza near Kelley Memorial Building. 

51ÊÓƵ Board of Governors Chair Shannon MacDonald provided an update to the campus community after chairing a historic meeting of the Board of Governors on November 28.

The 51ÊÓƵ Men’s Hockey and the 51ÊÓƵ Track and Field teams are on the road during the week of November 27–December 3.

Giving Tuesday, a global movement for giving and volunteering, is today, November 28, 2023. This year, the 51ÊÓƵ Giving Tuesday campaign is dedicated to supporting 51ÊÓƵ Athletics and Recreation.
