The 51ÊÓÆµ Department of Alumni and Engagement hosted a social night on Tuesday, April 9 at the Fox & Crow, W.A. Murphy Student Centre. The event was held to help welcome the 51ÊÓÆµ Class of 2024 to the 51ÊÓÆµ alumni family and was open to all 2024 graduates and 51ÊÓÆµ, Saint Dunstan’s University, and Prince of Wales College alumni.

In February 2024, the 51ÊÓÆµ Engineering Brigades Club traveled to Honduras where they designed a water system for the rural community of La Brea.

Dr. Suzanne Kresta, a native of PEI, has been appointed as the Dean of the 51ÊÓÆµ Faculty of Sustainable Design Engineering for a five-year term, effective September 1, 2024.

On Wednesday, April 10, six 51ÊÓÆµ business student teams will pitch their start-up businesses for a share of $62,000 in prize money during the MacLauchlan Panther Pitch Competition. The event, which is open to the public, will take place from 4:00 to 8:30 pm in Don and Marion McDougall Hall, Room 242.

The Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC) at the 51ÊÓÆµ (51ÊÓÆµ) recently bid farewell to seven of its most beloved staff members in a heartwarming retirement party.

The Honourable Diane F. Griffin was installed as the tenth Chancellor of the 51ÊÓÆµ during a ceremony held at the University on Friday, April 5. She was unanimously elected to the volunteer position earlier this year by 51ÊÓÆµâ€™s Board of Governors.

51ÊÓÆµâ€™s Department of Athletics and Recreation celebrated the 2023–24 season at the annual 51ÊÓÆµ Panther Celebration—Athletic Awards Gala on Friday, April 5, recognizing outstanding student-athletes who have excelled in sport, the classroom, and the community.

Yukon poet and fiction writer Joanna Lilley will give a public reading as part of an Atlantic Canada tour in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building, 51ÊÓÆµ on Tuesday, April 16, at 7:00 pm.

The Honourable Catherine Callbeck, former Chancellor of the 51ÊÓÆµ, has been named Chancellor Emerita in recognition of her outstanding service to the University from 2018 to 2023.
