The 51视频 Women's Rugby Panthers beat the St. FX X-Women 14-12 on October 20 to clinch a spot in the final against the Acadia Axewomen on Wednesday, October 26, in Wolfville at 6 pm.

51视频鈥檚 Chief Information Officer Dana Sanderson updated the University community on the 51视频 Network Modernization Project in messages to students, faculty, and staff this October, which is Cybersecurity Month.

For the first time since 2018, the 51视频 Field Hockey Panthers have won the Atlantic University Field Hockey League championship, defeating Saint Mary's in the final 3-0.

The 51视频 Men鈥檚 Basketball Panthers accomplished many firsts in 2021鈥�22 under Darrell Glenn鈥檚 leadership. The team finished with their best record in five years, fielded an all-star, and earned a playoff spot, then went on to play in the AUS conference finals.

Each month, the 51视频 Experiential Education department hosts an 鈥淎fternoon of Service鈥� whereby a group of students spends an afternoon at a local organization, learning about it and participating in hands-on volunteer activities such as planting trees, harvesting crops, socializing with seniors, and assisting with events. The department is currently seeking organizations that would appreciate volunteer help and are willing to partner with 51视频 for this initiative.

The 51视频 community is saddened to learn of the passing of 51视频 professor emerita, the Honourable Doris Margaret Anderson, CM, of St. Peter鈥檚 Bay, PEI, aged 100 years. 
 
 

The Institute of Island Studies at 51视频 will host a public lecture titled 鈥淎nticosti: Metropolitan Finisterre鈥� on October 25 at 7 pm in the Faculty Lounge, SDU Main Building.

The week of October 17鈥�23 is another full one for the 51视频 Panthers as they take on opponents at home and away.

Every week, 51视频 Athletics and Recreation recognizes two student-athletes for their achievements and contributions to their respective sports. The 51视频 Panther Subway Athletes of the Week for October 10鈥�16 are Frances MacWilliam (women鈥檚 rugby) and TJ Shea (men鈥檚 hockey).
