About the CDL / Truck Driving Program at 51ÊÓƵ
51ÊÓƵ works with local industry leaders to identify transportation needs for the state of Wyoming. This allows the college to tailor the training to the local community.
The program consists of online theory training and behind the wheel (BTW) hands-on training. The online portion must be completed first. It is self paced, but must be completed within 21 days. BTW training, which includes range, driving, backing and port of entry site visit, varies in duration by CDL type and experience. A typical "Class A" student can expect to complete their hands-on training in four weeks.
On average, our students log nearly 450 miles behind the wheel during our program. This driving experience includes a balanced mix of highway and city routes, with a strong emphasis on city driving to better prepare them for real-world scenarios.
Training Hours
Classes are offered year round in Cheyenne and Laramie.
- Days: Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Evenings: Monday - Friday 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. (only available in Cheyenne, but collecting interest for Laramie evening classes)
